Launched on March 13, 2001, the iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) is a passively managed exchange traded fund designed to provide a broad exposure to the Technology - Broad segment of the equity market.

At the end of last week, 75% of S&P 500 Technology stocks closed above their 200-DMAs for the first time in 219 trading days. Even after its recent improvement, Technology is hardly exceptional compared with the rest of the market.

The iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF offers broad tech exposure at a lower forward P/E (20.3x) than XLK, with strong forward EPS growth (29.5%). IGM's diversified holdings include communications, consumer discretionary, and non-S&P 500 North American firms, lowering its valuation versus traditional tech ETFs.
