A punishing period of declines for altcoins has left many cryptocurrency investors disappointed this year. Still, sentiment may be shifting.

Volatility Shares XRP ETF (XRPI) receives a 'Hold' rating due to high fees and tracking inefficiencies versus spot ETFs. The cryptocurrency market is set to reach all-time highs this year, according to Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of blockchain company Ripple. Garlinghouse said that interest in crypto from large financial institutions is not priced into the market as much as he would have expected.

XRP's spot ETFs are sucking in roughly $50 million a day in fresh capital, hitting nearly $1 billion in inflows in under four weeks, the fastest adoption pace since Ethereum ETFs launched. Yet the token itself has cratered 11% over the past ten days and sits near $1.72, well below the $2.

Two recent Securities and Exchange Commission decisions should lead to a wave of new ETFs. Crypto ETFs covering more digital currencies, such as solana and XRP, are to be expected in the months ahead after the SEC greenlit an expedited listing process.

XRP ETF offers retail investors XRP cryptocurrency exposure in a regulated ETF format, addressing concerns about crypto exchange scandals and custody risks. The fund holds CME XRP futures, not spot XRP, so performance will lag spot prices when the futures curve is in contango. XRPI is structured for capital gains, with a low yield and an options chain that enables risk management strategies like covered calls.

XRP ETF offers 1x exposure to XRP via CME futures but does not directly hold XRP, introducing tracking error and underperformance risk. XRP benefits from strong institutional support and recent legal clarity. XRPI's 94bps fee is in line with peers, but liquidity and spread risks impact returns for active traders.

2025 will be remembered as a pivotal year in crypto, where widespread access and clearer regulations helped solidify crypto's place in the financial mainstream.
