I rate abrdn Physical Platinum Shares ETF as a Hold after a significant rally and subsequent pullback since my prior article, with relative value no longer strongly compelling. PPLT's prior appeal as a 'cash-proxy' has faded; platinum's relative value versus gold and industrial metals has compressed, removing the exceptional dislocation seen in 2024. Supply/demand dynamics have shifted: a projected 2026 surplus replaces prior deficits, and inventories remain tight but not dangerously low.

abrdn Physical Platinum Shares ETF, the platinum ETF, presents a compelling short opportunity based on technical and fundamental signals. Platinum's term structure is in stable contango, indicating adequate supply and supporting a bearish outlook for PPLT. Technical analysis shows PPLT trading about 9% below its 200-period moving average, reinforcing the prevailing downtrend.
