IXG: Flattening Hits Savings And Lending Businesses
The iShares Global Financials ETF is heavily exposed to global banks, plenty of those reliant on savings and lending, making yield curve flattening an important concern. Insurance holdings within IXG may benefit from higher short-term rates, but overall, the ETF's outperformance versus broader indices appears unjustified given mixed exposures. I do not recommend indexing toward IXG now, as macro changes—especially yield curve flattening—pose net negative effects for the portfolio's dominant banking exposures.
