Three Dimensional Fund Advisors ETFs that NYSE Arca announced as Monday launches are not new funds at all. Instead, they are existing ETFs that now trade as share classes of older Dimensional mutual funds, according to the firm.

Just last month, Dimensional Fund Advisors announced that it would be merging U.S. equity ETFs into unified ETF share class versions of funds with similar systematic investment objectives. Today, the firm said that it has filed to list five ETF share classes of its systematic fixed income strategies.

A “slow-moving avalanche” was a phrase thrown around at the ETF Exchange 2026 event earlier this year to describe the prospect of ETF share classes making their way through the market.

Going into 2026, many corners of the asset management world heralded the pending arrival of ETF share classes of mutual funds as a revolutionary milestone. It was supposed to be the biggest change for the ETF industry in years.
