Since the 2019 ETF Rule, asset managers have flooded the market with active ETFs, offering investors a rapidly growing space of actively managed choices. In fact, over the last twelve months, active ETFs have seen outsized flows relative to their AUM — despite holding less in assets compared to their passive counterparts.

In a span of just four years, The Capital Group Companies went from ETF rookie to perennial All-Star. The Los Angeles-based firm has already amassed over $120 billion in assets dispersed across its suite of 25 active ETFs.

Capital Group New Geography Equity ETF offers global equity exposure with a unique revenue-based, look-through approach across developed and emerging markets. CGNG maintains a balanced portfolio, overweight tech, with a 16.7x P/E and 2.9x P/B, and targets developed-markets-like volatility. Performance has been strong but volatile, with a 17% annualized volatility and -13% drawdown during market stress; the expense ratio is 0.64%.

Star managers are making the move to ETFs.

Capital Group first launched ETFs less than two and a half years ago, but is not slowing down. The firm's asset base is just under $35 billion, aided by nearly $10 billion thus far in 2024.

On Thursday, Capital Group unveiled seven new ETFs to bolster its growing lineup of funds. Each of the seven funds is actively managed.
