The Russell 1000 Value index is up 18.3% this year, through yesterday's close, while the Russell 1000 Growth index is down 3.6%. Value has spent nearly the entire year in positive territory and has continued higher since Spring lows.

For factor investors, there's a massive gap between growth and value stocks that appears to only be widening. As of July 24, 2026, the iShares Russell 1000 Value ETF, which tracks the Russell 1000 Value Index, had returned 18.88% year-to-date (YTD), while the iShares Russell 1000 Growth ETF was down 0.36%.

The rotation into small caps and broadening of the US equity rally continued into Q2. Both large-cap and small-cap Value indices trailed their Growth counterparts unlike over the last 2-3 quarters.

Mid-cap and small-cap value stocks are beating the S&P 500. The iShares Russell 1000 Value ETF is up about 15% year-to-date.
