QQQI attracts investors with fat monthly payouts from Nasdaq-100 options, but what the fund quietly tells the IRS about those distributions should change how you think about every dollar you receive.

JPMorgan Nasdaq Equity Premium Yield ETF is rated Buy for its balanced approach to income and upside participation versus NEOS Nasdaq-100 High Income ETF. ROCQ's active stock selection, laddered call spreads, and lower fee structure have delivered higher total returns and lower drawdown than QQQI since inception. Despite QQQI's higher yield (14.39% vs. ROCQ's 10.7%), ROCQ has preserved more Nasdaq upside while still providing double-digit annualized income.

A single dollar of extra retirement income can quietly trigger a massive Medicare premium hike, and the fund most retirees rely on for monthly income happens to be one of the worst offenders when accounts sit in the wrong place.

JEPI's monthly income has made it a default choice for yield-hungry investors, but a quiet tax problem erodes those payouts for anyone holding shares in a taxable account.

JPMorgan Nasdaq Equity Premium Yield ETF offers a refined call spread strategy for higher income and greater upside participation than traditional covered call ETFs or equity-linked structures. ROCQ provides an estimated 13.5% annualized distribution rate, paid monthly, with a strong emphasis on tax-efficient return of capital distributions. The fund is best suited for income-focused investors seeking exposure to Nasdaq-100 leaders, but it lacks downside protection and may underperform traditional ETFs long-term.

The JPMorgan Nasdaq Equity Premium Yield ETF offers Nasdaq-100 exposure with an options overlay, targeting enhanced income via a call spread strategy. ROCQ's strategy caps upside potential but provides robust, tax-advantaged distributions with a forward yield of over 14%—primarily as a return of capital. I recommend a rotational approach: deploy QQQ in bull markets for full upside, and ROCQ in flat or defensive environments for income and risk mitigation.

The sheer complexity of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) using derivative-based strategies could have investors turning the other away. Instead, investors have been running towards them.

J.P. Morgan Asset Management has expanded its options ETF lineup with the listing of the JPMorgan Nasdaq Equity Premium Income ETF (ROCQ) and the JPMorgan U.S. Equity Premium Income ETF (ROCY) on Nasdaq.
