Looking for broad exposure to the Mid Cap Blend segment of the US equity market? You should consider the iShares Core S&P Mid-Cap ETF (IJH), a passively managed exchange traded fund launched on May 22, 2000.

iShares Core S&P Mid-Cap ETF offers low-cost, liquid exposure to US mid-cap stocks, tracking the S&P MidCap 400 Index. IJH's valuation appears attractive, with an estimated forward IRR of just over 13% and a beta-adjusted equity risk premium exceeding 8%. Despite long-term underperformance versus the S&P 500 and higher downside beta, current macroeconomic conditions favor IJH's sector exposures.

Markets may have ended the first quarter with a thud, but stocks put another record run in the books to close out the first half of 2026. I initiate a buy rating on iShares Core S&P Mid-Cap ETF, highlighting its superior 15% YTD return versus the S&P 500's 8.5%. Mid-cap fundamentals remain favorable, with cheap valuations, robust growth, and investor rotation from mega-cap tech driving continued upside potential for IJH. IJH offers diversified sector exposure, low concentration risk, a 1.17% yield, and a low 0.05% expense ratio, supporting its quant buy rating.

A barbell strategy—combining moderate-yielding dividend growth stocks/ETFs and 6.5%+ yielding investment grade preferreds—offers both growth and current income. AI-driven capex by large-cap S&P 500 firms is powering economic growth and masking weakness among lower-income consumers.
