Heartland Mid Cap Value Fund Q3 2026 Portfolio Activity
Bentley Systems, a newly initiated position during the quarter, is an example of a stock getting heavily discounted by a negative top-down industry narrative, with defensible and compelling long-term prospects. Watsco announced the acquisition of two separate family-run businesses. These acquisitions should increase revenue and cash flow by roughly 10%. We remained committed to MarketAxess stock for several reasons, including the fact that the company was exiting a heavy investment cycle, setting up strong operating leverage.

Where I'd Put My Next $10,000 In Stocks
I favor hyperscalers like Amazon and Alphabet over their suppliers due to AI buildout bottlenecks and superior cash flow resilience. AI infrastructure delays and financing risks may slow mid-term growth, benefiting well-capitalized hyperscalers while tempering expectations for suppliers and semiconductors. High-quality cyclical stocks and select REITs like Getty Realty offer contrarian value as rate-driven market pressures create rebound opportunities if rates ease.
