As September's World Nuclear Symposium made clear, nuclear energy is increasingly being mobilized as a key energy source around the world. However, investors looking to take advantage of developments in nuclear energy may be best served by understanding the supply dynamics within the uranium market.

Uranium mining equities have been back on the rise as of late.  Key Takeaways: Recent insights from the Sprott team show that uranium miners and junior uranium miners saw significant gains in August.

The ETF industry has been abuzz with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity. Adding to the growing list of M&A deals, Chicago-based private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners (MDP) entered into a definitive agreement to acquire The Marygold Companies, Inc. (NYSE: MGLD).

Data center electricity consumption is expected to more than double by 2030. Nuclear power is emerging as a major opportunity to address this demand.

Advisors and investors following the commodity markets are likely aware that spot uranium has seen noticeable price growth over the past year. According to Jacob White, CFA, director of ETF product management at Sprott Asset Management, spot uranium prices rose 21.25% in the last 12 months ending July 31, 2026.

Many sought-after metals have been logging significant price growth in recent months, and lithium is no exception. Key Takeaways: The price of lithium did quite well in August, as did the Sprott Lithium Miners ETF (LITP).

Sprott Uranium Miners ETF (URNM) offers concentrated, direct exposure to uranium miners and physical uranium, tracking the VettaFi Global Uranium Mining Index. I am bullish on URNM, rating it a Buy, driven by a persistent uranium contracting deficit, strong long-term pricing, and advancing major projects like Rook I and Phoenix. URNM's top 10 holdings comprise 78.4% of assets, amplifying both upside potential from uranium price strength and downside risk from sector volatility.

While many metals and commodities are worth keeping an eye on right now, one that may warrant particular focus is copper.  Key Takeaways: The price of spot copper saw a noticeable increase in July, rising 3.65% over the one month alone.

Uranium has been on quite a journey over the past few years. While the metal has always been valued for its role in nuclear energy, interest from governments, as well as the broader investment base, has noticeably improved in recent years.

Uranium equities have given back roughly a third of their value since last year's highs, even as hyperscaler power contracts, small modular reactor announcements, and utility load forecasts continue to point in one direction.
