NexGen Energy NYSE: NXE Chief Commercial Officer Travis McPherson said the company sees a long-term uranium supply shortfall as a central driver for the market, arguing that years of underinvestment have left the industry unable to quickly respond to rising demand for nuclear power.

In a boost for struggling sector, JPMorgan highlighted long-term, structural supply deficits for uranium.

Uranium mining sits at the narrow end of the funnel feeding the AI-driven reactor buildout, and three US-listed juniors are racing to fill a supply gap that utilities cannot contract their way out of.

Wall Street expects a structural supply bottleneck as tech hyperscalers secure multi-decade nuclear agreements to power advanced artificial intelligence data centers. With long-term uranium targets upgraded to about $95 per pound and a confidential Westinghouse IPO on the horizon, institutional capital is systematically front-running utility companies before legacy supply contracts fully expire.

NexGen Energy NYSE: NXE used its inaugural Investor Day to outline the construction plan, operating design and projected economics for its Rook I uranium project in Saskatchewan, with management targeting first ore in the third quarter of 2030.
