NEOS Bitcoin High Income ETF (BTCI) is upgraded from Sell to Hold, reflecting improved performance in choppy, non-violent Bitcoin rallies. BTCI captures most upside when Bitcoin rises steadily, not in sharp, sudden moves that overwhelm its options strategy. BTCI's September distribution increased 14% to $0.7184, with the ETF efficiently capturing Bitcoin's recent slower gains while maintaining income.

Bitcoin pays no dividends, coupons, or rents, yet one ETF is distributing cash to investors at a rate that rivals high-yield bonds and dividend stocks combined.

It's often said that “timing is everything.” But that's more of a general life saying than it is applicable in the world of investing, because market timing is incredibly difficult.

JEPI and JEPQ bury a line in your 1099 that costs top-bracket investors far more than the yield is worth. A newer class of options-overlay funds is engineered to send that same income through a very different tax door.

The NEOS Bitcoin High Income ETF remains rated Sell due to unstable distributions and limited total return despite a headline 33.62% yield. BTCI's monthly payout has fallen nearly 40% since January, highlighting the risk of relying on trailing yield figures for investment decisions. BTCI's options overlay cushions losses and outperform YBTC, but both funds expose investors to significant downside and volatile capital bases.

Bitcoin, the largest digital currency by market capitalization, notched an impressive rally last week, stoking hope that the cryptocurrency has finally bottomed in 2026 and that more upside is ahead.

NEOS Bitcoin High Income ETF offers a 26.7% annualized yield, making it attractive for income-focused investors with existing Bitcoin exposure. BTCI's strategy of pairing Bitcoin exposure with option premiums enables monthly income but caps upside potential and amplifies downside risk compared to BTC. Upcoming catalysts include potential 401k crypto access, institutional adoption, and regulatory clarity, but these may take years to materialize.

Income remains top of mind for financial advisors. But increasingly, it's not just about generating more yield.

NEOS Bitcoin High Income ETF offers high monthly income by converting Bitcoin volatility into a 41.26% trailing yield via covered calls. I rate BTCI a HOLD, as I believe preserving Bitcoin's full upside outweighs the appeal of current income at this stage of the cycle. BTCI's strategy systematically sacrifices part of Bitcoin's future gains for income, leading to significant tracking error and underperformance during strong rallies.

Bitcoin, the largest digital currency by market capitalization, is showing signs. It surpassed the psychologically important $65,000 level and is higher by nearly 3% for the week ending July 21.
