Profil: Incorporated in 1954 and named after the small Victorian town of Woodside, Woodside's early exploration focus moved from Victoria's Gippsland Basin to Western Australia's Carnarvon Basin. First LNG production from the North West Shelf came in 1984. BHP Billiton and Shell each had 40% shareholdings before BHP sold out in 1994 and Shell sold down to 34%. In 2017, Shell sold its entire shareholding. Woodside is one of the most LNG-leveraged companies globally.

Woodside Energy: An Attractive Valuation Ahead Of A Cash Flow Inflection Point
Woodside Energy is reiterated as a Buy, with valuation remaining attractive despite macro volatility, high CAPEX, and temporary gearing overhang. WDS is advancing major organic growth projects—Scarborough LNG, Trion, and Louisiana LNG—while maintaining strong liquidity and a robust balance sheet. Portfolio rebalancing, scrapping $5B in new energy spend plans, and a $350M annual cost reduction target are expected to drive significant free cash flow upside while its organic growth pipeline advances.

Woodside Energy: LNG Upside Capped (Downgrade To Hold)
Woodside Energy is downgraded to 'Hold' due to limited near-term valuation catalysts and flatlining post-2Q26 performance. WDS expects production growth from Scarborough/Pluto LNG ramp-up in 2H26 and further expansion with Trion (2028) and Louisiana LNG (2029). Consensus values WDS at 6x EV/EBITDA; my 6.5x multiple yields a $23.50 price target, reflecting low upside but attractive capital returns post-capex.
