Add More Income to Fixed Income With BNDI

There's a two-fold silver lining in the 2026 bond market. First, while inflation is high and yields are elevated, broader bond market performance isn't nearly as bad this year as it was in 2022, when soaring inflation forced the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates seven times.

BNDI: A 5.8% Bond Payout Meets The Fed

The NEOS Enhanced Income Aggregate Bond ETF is rated 'hold' due to its mixed risk profile during a pivotal Fed week. BNDI combines broad bond exposure with S&P 500 put spreads, offering a 5.81% distribution rate but heightened equity and rate risk. Its costs (a 0.58% expense ratio) and low liquidity offset the appeal of low volatility and recent rebound from October lows.

Bond Market Tumult Heightens Appeal of This Income ETF

These days, the fixed income market is fraught with risk due in large part to surging Treasury yields. But investors who can stomach that risk today may be rewarded over the long term.

BNDI Worth a Bet as Bond Yields Rise

Ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting that starts on Tuesday, September 15, bond markets were already on edge as rate hike expectations soared. It doesn't help matters that, earlier in the summer, 30-year Treasury yields hit their highest levels in 19 years.

BNDI: Earning Excess Yield For Fixed Income Investors

NEOS Enhanced Income Aggregate Bond ETF offers diversified bond exposure with enhanced monthly income via an active S&P 500 put spread strategy. BNDI outperforms underlying bond ETFs (BND, AGG) with a 5.87% yield versus 3.99% and 4.01%, respectively, and maintains limited credit/default risk. Easing inflation, stabilizing oil prices, and steady rates create a favorable environment for BNDI's income-focused strategy.

Less Chatty Fed Could Be Beneficial for This Income ETF

The Federal Reserve is coming off its first meeting under new Chairman Kevin Warsh. Aside from the obvious of limited scope for interest rate cuts over the near-term, one of the other takeaways some experts are focusing on is how the central bank will communicate with markets under Warsh's stewardship.

There could be small losses during significant, sharp equity drawdowns, but these are rare occurrences, and none have led to persistent losses in the past.
