YYY: Index Fund Of CEFs, Unfavorable Comps To Peers

The Amplify CEF High Income ETF invests in 60 CEFs, selected based on their yield, discount, and liquidity. The YYY fund offers investors a strong, stable 13.3% distribution yield. It compares unfavorably to peers, with significant, consistent underperformance.

YYY: The Income Is Attractive, The Long-Term Returns Are Not

The Amplify CEF High Income ETF offers a 12.81% distribution rate, but its 10-year NAV total return is only 5.11% annualized. Several major credit-oriented holdings use substantial leverage, while tight high-yield spreads leave limited room for error if credit conditions normalize. YYY's underlying CEF discount has narrowed from 7.9% at June-end to 5.27%, reducing the valuation cushion available to investors.

YYY: Return Free Risk, Don't Be Fooled By This 12% Yield ETF

Amplify CEF High Income ETF offers diversified exposure to high-yield closed-end funds with a 50/50 equities/bonds allocation and no top-level leverage. Despite a 12% yield, YYY's long-term annualized return is under 6%, raising concerns about fee drag and real, after-inflation returns. Recent 3-year performance exceeded 12.5% annualized, but peer funds like CEFS and FOF have delivered stronger risk-adjusted results.
