Federal regulators on Thursday approved a request from Venture Global for more time to keep its Plaquemines LNG plant in Louisiana in a commissioning stage before declaring the start of full commercial operations, a regulatory filing showed.

Chevron on Tuesday asked federal regulators to let it offer an opinion on Venture Global's recent request for more time to commission the Plaquemines LNG plant in Louisiana, at which the U.S. oil major has a long-term sales and purchase agreement that could be affected by any delay.

The settlement of an arbitration announced on October 9 by Venture Global involved Unipec, a trading unit of Chinese state-owned oil and gas firm Sinopec , according to two sources with knowledge of the matter.
