Victory Capital Holdings has entered a bidding war for Janus Henderson Group. It's offer for $57.04 a share now tops a bid made by Nelson Peltz's Trian Fund Management.

Victory Capital said on Thursday it has offered to buy peer Janus Henderson for $57.04 per share, months after the asset manager unveiled a $7.4 billion deal with Nelson Peltz's Trian and VC firm General Catalyst.

Victory Capital submitted a bid to acquire Janus Henderson, topping in total value the deal Trian Fund Management and General Catalyst agreed to with Janus Henderson in December.

Victory Capital says it's mounted a bid for Janus Henderson that's 16% higher than the $7.4 billion bid from Trian Fund Management the fund manager already agreed.
