Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (TSEM) shares are up over 60% this year due to big inflows.

GlobalFoundries sued Tower Semiconductor, alleging the rival chip manufacturer infringed on its patents. The lawsuits allege that Tower infringed on 11 GlobalFoundries' patents in the U.S. They allege Tower was “freeriding on decades of GF innovation with an intent to unlawfully take business away from the American chip maker,” GlobalFoundries said.

GlobalFoundries on ​Thursday said it has sued Israel-based rival ‌Tower Semiconductor , alleging that Tower Semiconductor infringed on 11 GlobalFoundries patents that relate to manufacturing chips that go ​into smart phones and other electronic ​devices.

According to the announcement, the demonstration showed a clear open eye at 420 Gb/s PAM4 and used Coherent's InP CW high-power laser.

Tower Semiconductor recently unveiled a technological solution aimed at the artificial intelligence data center industry. Although it's not the only outfit with this caliber of connectivity tech, it is one of the few.
