UPDATED: The long-expected merger of theme park operators Cedar Fair and Six Flags has finally closed, creating what Six Flags called today “the largest and most diverse amusement park operator in North America.” The newly combined behemoth will operate under the Six Flags name and, appropriately, trade under the ticker symbol FUN.

Six Flags, an operator of theme parks and water parks, has launched a metaverse experience on Roblox that includes a rewards program. The Six Flags Metaverse on Roblox offers virtual roller coasters, mazes and games, the company said in a Friday (June 28) press release.

(NYSE: FUN) (“Cedar Fair”) and Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (NYSE: SIX) (“Six Flags”) today announced that the regulatory conditions for their previously announced merger of equals (the “Mergers”) have been satisfied, permitting the companies to proceed with the closing of the Mergers (the “Closing”). The parties expect Closing to occur on July 1, 2024, following the satisfaction of remaining customary closing condition.

The market rally so far has been what anyone would have expected just a year back. I wouldn't be surprised if it drags on and, the S&P 500 crosses 6,000 points, and the Nasdaq goes above 20,000 by the end of the year.

Six Flags (SIX) was a big mover last session on higher-than-average trading volume. The latest trend in earnings estimate revisions might not help the stock continue moving higher in the near term.

Cedar Fair (FUN) and Six Flags (SIX) expect a merger to be complete by July 1st. The combined company will be named Six Flags Entertainment Corp. and will trade under the tickers “FUN” starting on July 2nd.
