Stellus Capital: Unjustified Premium Valuation Following Q2 Earnings
Stellus Capital offers an attractive 11.2% dividend yield, but I question the sustainability of these payouts amid deteriorating portfolio quality and weakening dividend coverage. Despite a 17.2% total return over the past year, SCM now trades at an 8% premium to NAV, which I find difficult to justify given rising risks. The portfolio is heavily weighted toward first lien senior secured loans and floating rate debt, benefiting from higher rates but exposing SCM to borrower stress.
