Investors exposed to cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ether have been on a wild ride over the past year.

The Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF (ETH) stands out for long-term investors with its lowest expense ratio (0.15%), strong liquidity, and staking yield access. Despite recent ~60% ETH drawdown and a risk-off environment, I assign a 'Hold' rating to both Ethereum and its ETFs, while remaining bullish on long-term prospects. ETF selection should prioritize low fees, staking exposure, and scale, as these factors compound over time and drive liquidity and investor demand.

Ethereum has long been the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization behind only bitcoin. But the gap is sizable.

As investor adoption of crypto, retail and institutional, continues to grow exponentially, discussions are typically centered around bitcoin and ethereum. The former is lauded for its store of value while the latter carries more functional utility when taking into account its role in the blockchain network.

Often pitted against each other, gold and Bitcoin are both benefiting from the effects of the current “debasement trade.” In turn, this creates investment opportunities to capture upside in ETFs that offer exposure to cryptocurrencies.

Regulatory easing and Wall Street's institutional embrace will continue to provide a favorable backdrop for cryptocurrency ETFs. While much of the space is concentrated on Bitcoin and Ethereum, stablecoins can also provide ample opportunities in crypto ETFs.

Ethereum ETFs like CETH and ETHV surged near 52-week highs as whale buying, staking growth, and record network activity fuel demand.

The crypto rally continues, with Bitcoin trading near its all-time high and Ethereum reaching its highest level since 2022.
