The week ending in February 15 featured the Exchange conference in Miami, Florida, and launches were muted as a result. Only one new ETF made its debut during the week.

One of the top-performing thematic segments this year is cannabis. A major catalyst has been the proposed descheduling of it from a Schedule I to a Schedule III drug under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA).

Support for cannabis legalization reached all-time highs in 2023, creating a long list of cannabis stocks to buy. For one, a new Gallup survey found that 70% of Americans believe cannabis should be legal, which is a record high.

Although 14 new ETFs debuted in the U.S. this past week, closure announcements came in even stronger, largely due to Global X pruning its lineup. Launches during the week included funds from BondBloxx, WisdomTree, Innovator, JPMorgan, and Range ETFs.

Cannabis investors are tired of waiting and losing money, but there are still reasons to be optimistic in the long term.

So far this month, Wall Street remained almost flat. But a few ETF areas have been hovering at around a month-high and have been still gaining strength.
