NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--VanEck has announced the 2024 annual distributions per share for its VanEck equity exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

With 2024 drawing to a close, it's fair to say this has been another year of disappointment by broad-based international equity indexes. As of Monday, the widely followed MSCI EAFE Index was up just 4.35% year-to-date.

Consumer discretionary stocks represent the fourth-largest sector allocation in the S&P 500, commanding nearly 10% of that index. That's somewhat prominent, particularly when factoring in brand recognition enjoyed by some of the largest consumer cyclical names.

If there's one frequently cited attribute of European equities, it's that those stocks trade at noticeable discounts relative to U.S. equivalents. Those low valuations haven't been enough to generate much out-performance against domestic stocks, though.
