In cases where an asset is in the midst a strong rally, investors are typically gripped with the fear that they already missed out on the major move. That doesn't appear to be the case with gold, which should be approached with a strategic allocation strategy in mind as opposed to simply chasing gains.

Realizing the importance of critical minerals to meet future  energy demands, the White House has made strategic investments in certain companies. These include MP Materials, Lithium Americas Corp, and Trilogy Metals Inc.

Rare earth and lithium ETFs surged as U.S.-China trade tensions flared. ILIT, REMX, LITP and SETM jumped by double digits on Oct. 13, 2025 amid China's export curbs.

Artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and machine learning are just a few of the obvious tech innovations dominating the majority of investor attention spans these days. Along with the companies focused on these technologies, attention also diverts to those integral to meeting hardware demands, like semiconductor firms.

Lithium-themed ETFs touched 52-week highs last week, prompting questions on if the rally is driven more by political tailwinds than commodity fundamentals.

The Federal Reserve's recent rate cut of 25 basis points could amplify gold's current rally. Prices have already broken through the $3,700 price mark, and another record high could hinge upon how aggressive rate cuts will be in the coming months.

The prospect of interest rate cuts this month and through the rest of the year is elevating prices for gold, but silver is also benefiting. The precious/industrial metal crossed the $40 price mark in the first week of September, which it hasn't done since 2011.

As acceptance for nuclear energy usage becomes more widespread globally, the infrastructure in which it operates is also evolving. The United States, for example, is looking towards smaller, more efficient reactors that require higher uranium enrichment.

Beaten down mostly by a supply gut and slow adoption for electric vehicles (EVs), supply disruptions globally have been re-charging interest in lithium again. Making recent news, battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) suspended operations in China (the Yichun project).
