ATLANTA , May 23, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Trustees authorized several Invesco closed-end funds to declare dividends.  This action includes an increase in the distribution rate for all investment grade municipal bond closed-end funds.

There are three types of closed-end fund structures: perpetual, term, and target term. Term funds aim to minimize the discount at which the fund trades versus its share price. Today we have four funds that are nearing their completion dates. JPI, DCF, CBH, and IHTA. We'll go through them one-by-one. Term funds are similar to buying a discounted bond that is nearing its maturity. There are a few other risks that are involved here.

Several leveraged municipal closed-end funds have announced distribution rate increases of between 9% and 23% to deliver higher monthly cash flows to shareholders.

For the first month in three, equity CEFs (-0.59% on a NAV basis) suffered losses while their fixed-income CEF (+0.49%) counterparts on average posted plus-side returns. At month-end, 11% of all CEFs traded at a premium to their NAV, with 12% of equity CEFs and 10% of fixed-income CEFs trading in premium territory. Income & Preferred Stock CEFs (+1.44%), for the first month in four, outpaced the other classifications in the equity CEF universe for January.
