SINGAPORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AM Best has revised the outlooks to positive from stable and affirmed the Financial Strength Rating (FSR) of B++ (Good) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating (Long-Term ICR) of “bbb+” (Good) of ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited (ICICI Lombard) (India). Concurrently, AM Best has affirmed the India National Scale Rating (NSR) of aaa.IN (Exceptional) of ICICI Lombard with a stable outlook. The Credit Ratings (ratings) reflect ICICI Lombard's balance sheet.

Healthy credit quality and ample capital make large Indian lenders adequately prepared to transition to the expected credit loss-based provisioning framework due in a little over one year. The ECL methodology introduces forward-looking provisioning, unlike the current system that requires Indian banks to provide for loans only after they become nonperforming.

I leave my existing "Hold" rating for ICICI Bank unchanged after reviewing its 3QFY2026 financial disclosures. ICICI's weaker-than-peer growth rates and earnings miss were disappointing. But IBN's asset quality and capital adequacy ratios are healthy; CEO Bakhshi's re-appointment also ensured leadership continuity.
