About: Halliburton is North America's largest oilfield service company as measured by market share. Despite industry fragmentation, it holds a leading position in the hydraulic fracturing and completions market, which makes up nearly half of its revenue. It also holds strong positions in other service offerings like drilling and completions fluids, which leverages its expertise in material science, as well as the directional drilling market. While we consider SLB the global leader in reservoir evaluation, we think Halliburton leads in any activity from the reservoir to the wellbore. The firm's innovations have helped multiple producers lower their development costs per barrel of oil equivalent, with techniques that have been homed in over a century of operations.

Wait On The Sidelines For Halliburton
I rate Halliburton as a Hold with a $21 price target based on a 2025 adjusted EPS of $2.33, reflecting bearish oil price outlook. Economic uncertainty, potential U.S. recession, and OPEC+ production increases contribute to a bearish outlook for the oil field service sector through 2025. Halliburton's revenues and margins are pressured by lower oil prices, with significant downside risks if WTI falls below $55 per barrel.

Halliburton: Large And Steady Player In Energy Services
Halliburton shares have declined 50% due to slowing energy activity, particular in US oil production, and fear of recession. The company has a solid balance sheet, high free cash flow yield, and is returning capital to shareholders through buybacks and dividends. The stock is trading at historically low valuations, presenting a potential upside if the energy sector stabilizes.
