The Global X Gold Explorers ETF is a thematic, commodity-oriented, non-leveraged, focused on gold explorers and developers with an expense ratio of 0.65%. It differs from other ETFs due to its focus on explorers, which in my opinion places GOEX in the late cycle dimension. Considering the gold cycle and past evidence, it could prove to be a tactical choice.

Metals, shipping and rare earth ETFs like SLVP, BWET and SETM led 2025, and SPY has gained 14.8% YTD despite AI, tariff and rate jitters.

Global X Gold Explorers ETF has outperformed VanEck Gold Miners ETF and VanEck Junior Gold Miners ETF in 2025, rising 169% year-to-date amid a strong gold bull market. GOEX offers high momentum but carries elevated risk, lower dividend, and higher expense ratios compared to GDX and GDXJ. Unlike leveraged products, GOEX avoids time decay and benefits from the inherent leverage of gold exploration and mining equities.

Gold, silver, and Bitcoin are all outperforming the broader market so far in 2025, with year-to-date (YTD) returns of 42%, 52%, and 17%, respectively.
