DUNMORE, Pa., April 30, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- FNCB Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: FNCB; www.fncb.com), the parent company of Dunmore-based FNCB Bank (the “Bank” and collectively, “FNCB”) today reported net income of $3.5 million, or $0.18 per diluted shares, for the first quarter of 2024, an increase of $869 thousand, or 32.6%, compared to $2.7 million or $0.14 per diluted share, for the same period of 2023. The earnings improvement was primarily due to a $1.6 million increase in net interest income, partially offset by increases in the provision for credit losses of $511 thousand and non-interest expense of $266 thousand. For the three months ended March 31, 2024, the annualized return on average assets and the return on average shareholders' equity were 0.78% and 10.58%, respectively, compared to 0.62% and 8.84%, respectively, for the same period of 2023. FNCB declared and paid dividends to shareholders of common stock of $0.09 per share for each of the first quarters of 2024 and 2023.

(NASDAQ: FNCB; www.fncb.com), the parent company of Dunmore-based FNCB Bank (the “Bank” and collectively, “FNCB”) today reported net income of $13.0 million, or $0.66 per diluted shares, for 2023, compared to $20.4 million or $1.03 per diluted share, for 2022. The 36.5% reduction in net income was primarily due to a $6.1 million decrease in net interest income, which largely reflected higher deposit costs and greater utilization of wholesale funds. Also impacting year-to-date net income was a $1.3 million decrease in non-interest income and a $1.4 million increase in non-interest expense. These reductions to earnings were partially offset by a $1.4 million decrease in income tax expense. For the three months ended December 31, 2023, net income was $3.3 million, or $0.17 per diluted share, a decrease of $1.6 million, or 31.8%, compared to $4.9 million, or $0.24 per diluted share for the same three-month period of 2022. Similar to the year-to-date period, reductions in net interest income and non-interest income, coupled with an increase in non-interest expenses, were the primary factors leading to the reduction in fourth quarter 2023 earnings.
