U.S. Banks Brace For An Extended Deposit Cost Squeeze
Deposit costs are squeezing margins at US banks, and there is no near-term relief in sight, even as certificate of deposit (CD) repricing waves lock in higher funding costs well into 2027. As of June 26, 639 banks marketed rates above 3.5% on a one-year $10,000 CD, down from 1,006 a year ago but up from 583 since the end of the first quarter.

Regional Bank Melt-Up: Is This 3X Leveraged Play the Ultimate High-Reward Bet?
Direxion Daily Regional Banks Bull 3X Shares looks to triple the return of regional bank stocks on a daily basis. Investors need to fully understand what they are buying when they add leveraged ETFs to their portfolios.

DPST: Favorable Outlook For Regional Banks In 2026
The Direxion Daily Regional Banks Bull 3X Shares ETF (has had a volatile 2025, characterized by a steep drop in April followed by a full recovery into year-end. Looking ahead to 2026, expectations for higher GDP growth and a lower unemployment rate should create a favorable backdrop for regional banks. Regional banks offer a sizable 24% P/E discount relative to the broad U.S. financials sector, with EPS growth seen at about 10%.

DPST: This Isn't The Time For A Levered Regional Bank ETF
I rate Direxion Daily Regional Banks Bull 3X Shares ETF as a 'Sell' due to structural risks and an unconvincing sector outlook for 2026. The fund's leverage amplifies the sector's already considerable volatility, leading to persistent underperformance versus unlevered regional bank ETFs. DPST may suit short-term traders, but I see little justification for long-term portfolio inclusion.

Regional Banking Might Consolidate But Better Approaches Than DPST
The Direxion Daily Regional Banks Bull 3X Shares offers leveraged exposure to regional banks but carries significant risks due to daily resetting and value erosion. Regional banks appear attractive with reasonable valuations, controlled CRE risks, and potential upside from industry consolidation, especially as acquisition activity may increase. DPST is best suited for short-term, speculative trades on imminent events, not for long-term holding due to its daily resetting.
