No Fund Deserves To Be Cut In Half More Than GUT
While all of the talk is about a credit market bust and the possibility of 50% haircuts, there's already one fund that deserves to be cut in half. The Gabelli Utility Trust is at a +119% premium over its NAV. Compare that to virtually all other CEFs that investors could buy, and GUT is an anomaly like no other. What does GUT do to deserve an 119% premium? Nothing that I see other than offering a very generous 9.1% market yield compared to other utility-focused CEFs and ETFs.

DPG's Discount-To-NAV: Causes And Catalysts
Duff & Phelps Utility and Infrastructure Fund currently trades at a 10.24% discount to NAV, primarily due to recent distribution cuts. DPG's leverage and expense ratios are in line with peers, and its long-term NAV performance is comparable or superior to UTF and UTG. Key catalysts for narrowing the discount include a recent distribution increase, a 5% share repurchase program, and strong total return prospects.

2 Closed-End Fund Buys In The Month Of July 2026
We've seen a bit more volatility in July, but it was primarily related to the tech-heavy Nasdaq, which had briefly touched correction territory. More broadly speaking, equities were holding up fairly well as value-oriented sectors helped provide mostly stable moves. With that, I am still holding on to a rather sizeable cash allocation before wanting to get too aggressive, instead preferring to wait for a broader equity market downturn.

2 Infrastructure Closed-End Funds For The Long-Term
Infrastructure closed-end funds can provide investors opportunities to invest in a diversified manner and often with attractive distribution yields being provided through a monthly payout. CEFs can often provide further unique opportunities with the discount/premium mechanic, where the share price can swing wildly from its NAV per share. Today, we are highlighting 2 infrastructure funds worth holding over the long term, though one I see as a 'Buy' and one is currently a 'Hold.'

MEGI Vs. DPG: Both Attractively Valued, But I Think We Have A Clear Winner
NYLI CBRE Global Infrastructure Megatrends Term Fund offers broad global infrastructure exposure, a 9.87% yield, and trades at a 10%+ discount. MEGI's term structure (liquidation by December 2033) provides a potential catalyst for closing the discount, but its total returns lag key peers. I favor Duff & Phelps Utility and Infrastructure Fund for its superior track record, manageable 5.75% yield, and similar deep discount.
