About a quarter of the way into 2026, Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA) is already having a monumental year. The global investment firm just made history launching the first actively managed ETF share class last week.

U.S. GDP grew 3% in Q2 2025, beating forecasts and easing recession fears as investors eye VTV, XLU, DVY, DFUV and SPYD.

In this article, I assess the suitability of DFUV as a broad-market play against upcoming volatility catalysts. This should act as a primary hedge for a core growth portfolio that's heavy of the Magnificent 7 and similar high-growth names.
