Copper ended 2025 with a strong rally that's persisting into the first month of the new year. Jacob White, Sprott Asset Management Director of ETF Product Management, highlighted the fundamental drivers that could help push copper to greater heights this year in the latest Sprott Copper Report.

When it comes to dominating the 24-hour financial news cycle, gold and silver may get most of the attention. Known as the “red metal,” copper may not be on investors' proverbial radars.

Gold and silver were not the only metals to see breakout performances in the later half of 2025.  Much like these other metals, copper also closed out last year in a highly favorable position.

Given gold's stratospheric rally last year, it might seem that ETF provider Sprott would see the most inflows in their funds related to the precious metal. However, after 2025 was said and done, it was the Sprott Silver Miners & Physical Silver ETF (SLVR) at the top spot with about $450 million inflows.

The Sprott Junior Copper Miners ETF (NASDAQ:COPJ) posted a 109% gain in 2025, turning a $37 million fund into one of the year's top performers.

Metals, shipping and rare earth ETFs like SLVP, BWET and SETM led 2025, and SPY has gained 14.8% YTD despite AI, tariff and rate jitters.
