BT Group share price is in a strong bull run, moving to its highest point since 2017. It has risen in the last seven consecutive months, its longest winning streak since it went public over two decades ago.

A new plan to allow companies access to surpluses in their defined benefit pension schemes has been floated by PM Kier Starmer and Chancellor Rachel Reeves. After a run of years with high interest rates, many of these types of pension schemes, which are outside of the public sector and almost all closed to new members, are now in surplus.

Mobile firm companies will no longer be able to raise charges mid-contract without first explaining exactly in pounds and pence beforehand how much bills will change. The change follows an outcry when mobile contracts linked to inflation rose by more than 17% in some cases as the consumer price index surged higher two years ago.

Ofcom, the telecoms regulator, has introduced new rules to make inflation-linked price rises easier to understand for mobile phones, pay-TV and broadband users on a contract. From next year, customers have to be notified to any rise n contract charges in a “clear and comprehensible" way.

BT Group PLC (LSE:BT.A)'s Openreach is among telecoms firms to have put to paper in agreeing protections for users of telecare alarms as Britain's phone network is upgraded. Almost two million vulnerable people rely on such alarms, which use phone lines, according to the Department for Science, Technology and Innovation.

BT said network operations that were provided from the tower are now being provided elsewhere. For instance, microwave aerials were removed more than a decade ago, BT said.

BT (LON: BT.A) share price is not doing well. It has dropped for two straight months and is sitting near its lowest level since 2012.

BT Group PLC (LSE:BT.A) on Thursday eked out modest growth in revenue and earnings in the third quarter but warned performance continued to be hit by rising costs and that its broadband base would decline. The telco said in the third quarter ending December, adjusted revenue rose 3% to £5.34 billion from £5.21 billion the year prior, while adjusted Ebitda edged 1% higher to £2.03 billion from £2.01 billion.

BT was in court today facing a class action alleging it overcharged customers £1.3 billion for their landline connections. Brought by former Ofcom executive Jason Le Patourel with funding from Harbour Litigation, it is the first class action to reach court in the UK since changes to the law in 2015 allowed them.
