Bitcoin has had its highs and lows when it comes to investor interest (and its prices). But lately, interest has remained relatively high, and bitcoin prices have now reached over $70,000.

In its latest report released last December, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) estimates that the digital economy now represents 10% of the total U.S. GDP, or $2.6 trillion.  The digital economy is also growing at an average annual growth rate of 7.1%.

During 2023, the higher rate environment was a source of competition for the equity income category.

As the hype around the approval of the first spot Bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) is well and truly over, the sentiment in the cryptocurrency market has cooled appreciably. The Bitcoin fear index now sits at a lukewarm 63, down from 76 just a week ago, which would have been interpreted as an “extreme greed” rating.

One well known use case of blockchain is digital currency, most notably Bitcoin.
