Shares of electric aviation startup Beta Technologies took flight Tuesday as the company made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange with an outsized raise of $1 billion and a stock price that closed up.

Beta Technologies, which makes electric aircrafts, opened at $34 in its New York Stock Exchange debut on Tuesday. The company raised over $1 billion in its IPO, selling shares at $34 each, above the expected range.

The U.S. IPO market in 2025 has been relatively busy, with plenty of household names going public, including Klarna, eToro, and Chime. But as you can tell from that brief list, many of the most closely watched IPOs this year have been companies operating in the fintech space.

In addition, BETA granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 4,477,941 shares of Class A common stock at the initial public offering price, less underwriting disco.

Electric aircraft maker Beta Technologies is expected to price its initial public offering at $34 per share, Bloomberg News reported on Monday.

BETA Technologies is following a vertically integrated model similar to Tesla's, starting with niche markets (cargo, defense) before expanding into passenger aviation. BETA's robust order backlog, strategic partnerships, and strong patent portfolio provide a competitive moat. The company targets recurring revenue through aircraft maintenance, battery replacements, charging infrastructure, and other aftermarket services, mirroring a razor-and-blades strategy.

Beta Technologies Inc, an electric aircraft startup, is hoping to raise as much as $825 million in an initial public offering (IPO) priced between $27 and $33 per share, according to a US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing.   Should the company price the IPO at the top end of its range, the startup would have a market valuation of about $7.2 billion.
