Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group, Inc., originally founded in 1924 as Sumitomo Trust Co., Ltd., and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, is a major Japanese financial holding company that evolved through the 2011 merger of Chuo Mitsui Trust Holdings and Sumitomo Trust and Banking Co., Ltd., forming its core entity, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank. Renamed from Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings in October 2024, it is Japan’s largest trust bank and fifth-largest bank by assets, managing hundreds of billions through services like trust banking, asset management, real estate, and financial brokerage for retail and institutional clients.
