Prudential plc Portfolio holdings
Prudential plc is a British insurer and asset manager that sells life and health insurance to customers across Asia and Africa. It began in London in 1848 as the Prudential Mutual Assurance, Investment and Loan Association, and for many years its door-to-door premium collectors were known as the "Man from the Pru". Its Asian business dates to 1923, when it set up an agency in India, and its first steps in Africa came in 1930. Prudential bought the fund manager M&G in 1999 and completed the demerger of M&G plc in 2019, then demerged its US business Jackson National Life in 2021, leaving it focused solely on Asia and Africa. It is unrelated to the American insurer Prudential Financial.
