Amazon.com Inc Portfolio holdings
Amazon.com began in 1994 as an online bookstore that Jeff Bezos started after moving to Bellevue, Washington, and it first went by the name Cadabra. Bezos renamed it Amazon later that year, after the river, to match his ambitions for the company. It is a conglomerate spanning e-commerce, retail, cloud computing, online advertising, digital streaming and artificial intelligence. Its cloud arm, Amazon Web Services, launched in 2002 as tools for web developers building on Amazon's e-commerce platform, and Amazon's other businesses include the self-driving car unit Zoox and the satellite internet provider Kuiper Systems. In 2021 Bezos handed the chief executive role to Andy Jassy, who had run Amazon Web Services.
