MA Hedge Fund Activity: Q4 2018 in Review

1,788 of the 4,488 institutional investors tracked by Wall St. Rank reported a position in Mastercard (MA) for Q4 2018, worth a combined $146B — down 16% from $174B a quarter earlier.

Buyers outnumbered sellers: 207 funds opened new MA positions and 140 closed out — a net gain of 67 holders — while 655 added to existing stakes and 698 trimmed.

The largest buyer was Lone Pine Capital, opening a new position worth an estimated $585M. The largest seller was Bank of New York Mellon, cutting an estimated $377M.
