Corient Private Wealth is the U.S. wealth management business that grew out of Canadian asset manager CI Financial's push into American wealth advisers. It was called CI Private Wealth until 2023, when it took the name Corient, a play on the words "client" and "oriented." Its advisers typically manage client portfolios by hiring and replacing outside investment managers and choosing individual securities, guided by an investment committee. Clients include individuals, among them high-net-worth individuals, as well as trusts, estates and charitable organizations.
