BlackRock, Inc., founded in 1988 by Larry Fink and a group of partners, is the world’s largest asset management firm, headquartered in New York City. Initially starting as a risk management and fixed-income institutional asset manager, it has grown to manage over $10 trillion in assets through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions, such as its 2009 purchase of Barclays Global Investors.
