Bank of America, founded in 1904 as the Bank of Italy by Amadeo Giannini to serve immigrants in San Francisco, is now one of the largest financial institutions in the world, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, following its 1998 merger with NationsBank. It provides a broad spectrum of services, including consumer banking, wealth management (through its Merrill division), commercial banking, and investment banking, managing trillions in assets and serving millions of customers globally.
